To clean the oceans, if you stay in a land-locked place, might require one to take a flight or a train and burn some more carbon. Ironical right?

Yet, the path to environmental stewardship doesn't always lie in grand gestures or large-scale policies. Sometimes, the journey begins with a simple, profound realisation: waste isn't waste, until we waste it.

On a serious note, taking care of nature is too big a task that even governments are and will struggle with. The true path to progress will start with every human reckoning their role in this urgent cause. Once this step is completed, the simpler next step follows suit- where every person realises the power they hold in their hands of being conscious of reducing waste.

Less is more than enough!

The fundamental principle of reducing waste is woven into the fabric of our lives. We are taught to waste less time, money, and words, and it is time we expand this ethos to all aspects of our existence.

Can we waste less water? Can we be more mindful about the silence we disrupt with our vehicle horns? Can we preserve the purity of our air by rethinking our burning habits? Each of these questions leads to a broader vision: can we waste less of everything?

Waste isn’t waste!

At Roger La Viale, this philosophy has inspired us to reimagine waste not as a burden but as an opportunity. Our commitment to nature and sustainability is deeply embedded in our brand, reflected in the precious natural resources we use—Wool, Cotton, and Linen.

This appreciation, respect and responsibility for nature is not just a concept but a core principle- a part of our DNA- guiding our actions.

Our journey began modestly, with small buyer giveaways like wallets, fabric journals, passport cases, and laptop bags. But it was during the severe winters that we saw a more pressing need.

We decided to craft comforters— regionally known as "godadis"—to provide warmth to the homeless. This initiative not only addressed an immediate need but also generated employment for the underprivileged who helped make these comforters. The support and encouragement we received from our buyers and those around us ignited our creative spark and led us to address another challenge- smaller fabric remnants.

Raksha Bandhan for people & planet

Cometh the festival, cometh the tradition! Rakshabandhan was the solution that was on our wrists all along.

We turned to skilled artisans to craft intricate Rakhis from fabric scraps as small as 15 centimetres. This transformation from waste to exquisite handcrafted 5000 Rakhis is a testament to the power of creativity and sustainability.

The joy of seeing waste materials emerge as beautiful, meaningful objects is an emotion beyond words. It is a blend of satisfaction, pride, and a deep connection to our shared responsibility for the environment.

At Roger La Viale, we invite you to share in this emotional journey. Your thoughts and feedback are invaluable to us as we strive to waste less and make a difference. Let this "waste emotion" inspire us to reduce waste and channel it into something beautiful. Together, let's transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and celebrate the artistry of sustainability.
